Woodlands for All The Forest of Avon ‘Woodlands for All’ programme aims to improve access in local woodlands, particularly for people with health and mobility problems, and for pushchairs. People can now enjoy improved access routes in four North Somerset woodlands and pick up an accompanying leaflet from the Forest of Avon. New easy access leaflets which include clear path maps are now available for Abbots Pool, Leigh Woods, Goblin Combe and Ashton Hill.
Community Benefits
- A better and more welcoming woodland environment for people with special needs, local people and visitors.
- More special needs groups involved in local woodlands and learning about the value of trees and benefits of being in woodlands.
- Good quality information available to encourage more people to visit each woodland, particularly special needs groups who may not have visited the area before.
New Leaflet
Two full-colour A4 leaflets providing a good quality simple map of each woodland, showing accessible routes and giving clear practical information as well as highlighting points of special interest. Local Support & Involvement
Local organisations working with disabled people were invited to influence and comment the on the design and content of the leaflets and three Community Special Schools worked in the woodlands learning how to make wooden benches for each site.
