Planning and the Forest of Avon - A Guide for developers
The Guide for Developers describes how developers can contribute to the creation of the Forest of Avon, one in a national programme of Community Forests.
The Forest of Avon Partnership has a significant track record of delivery including, for example
- Over a million trees planted
- Over three hundred hectares of biodiverse land created
- Over a thousand kilometres of new and improved public and other paths
The Planning System has played an important role in securing these benefits, where they have related to development. It is anticipated that this will continue and grow, particularly in the context of the significant development proposed for the West of England in the Regional Spatial Strategy, much of which will be within the Forest of Avon.
The Guide for Developers has been endorsed by the four Forest of Avon partner local authorities (Bath & NE Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Councils) during November and December 2005. The Guide sets out the relevant planning policies for each local authority and provides advice as to how these policies will be applied.
To download a copy of the Guide (PDF format) for the relevant local authority, click on the link below. Hard copies can be obtained from the Forest of Avon team and Council Planning Departments on request.
The Forest of Avon team are able to provide without prejudice advice in the context of the Guide for Developers and would be pleased to discuss the contribution that proposals can make to the Forest on this basis.
