The West of England sub-region covers the area formerly known as Avon and consists of the four unitary authority areas of -

Bath & North East Somerset
Bristol
North Somerset
South Gloucestershire

The region has an excellent track record in innovation, creativity and connectivity, and occupies an outstanding strategic location. Over the last ten years, the area's population has grown faster than the UK average to more than one million people.
