Leigh Woods

There are a number of good quality waymarked paths where you can cycle through Leigh Woods on the edge of the Avon Gorge.

tree canopyThese woodlands right on the edge of Bristol are a great place to escape the noise and pollution of the city. Some Leigh Woods paths also link with the River Avon Trail and Sustrans Route 41, although the path down to the river is steep.

Access

The paths for cycling are all stone surfaced and easy to ride on, although there are some inclines and muddy patches in wet weather.

How to get there

There are three entrances to Leigh Woods: 1. from North Road, 2. from the Forestry Commission Road off the A369, ½ mile east of Abbots Leigh village or 3. via the River Avon Trail about 2 miles north of the Clifton Suspension Bridge (although the latter requires a steep climb out of the valley).
