Badocks Wood

Badock's Wood is a wildlife haven in the north-west of Bristol. It is made up of tranquil woodland situated in a limestone valley, with adjacent areas of meadow.

The woodland is probably at least 400 years old in parts. Look out for bluebells and wood anemones in the Spring. In Victorian times, parts of the wood were planted with fashionable trees of the time such as beech, Scots pine and horse chestnut.

Local industrialist and landowner, Sir Stanley Badock, bought the wood in 1905. In 1937, he gave the wood to the City of Bristol for the enjoyment of the local people. It has been in the care of Bristol City Council since then.
