Ellens Wood

Ellen's Wood is a large new community woodland in the Severn Vale, close to Almondsbury.  The wood is over 60 hectares in size and was planted in 2000 / 2001 with natives broadleaves and conifers.  The site also contains large areas of open space and offers views of the bridges over the Severn, the Severn Ridge and Welsh hills.  The site is owned by a local farmer and has full public access.  

Access

The terrain is level, providing very easy walking. All paths are grassed.  There is a small parking area in the farm yard of Lower Knole Farm.

Getting There

You can get to the Ellen's Wood from Badgers Lane / Monmouth Hill (running between Over and Almondsbury).  (OS grid reference: ST 587 844).   The site can also be accessed via a number of public footpaths and permissive paths.

There is a small car park in the farm yard of Lower Knole Farm (see Map link below). 

If possible, please try to use environmentally friendly forms of transport wherever possible.  The site can be easily accessed via a number of public footpaths as well as by bicycle.  Click here to view the Sustrans website showing a map of the National Cycle Network around Ellen's Wood.
