Warmley Forest Park
Local people and the Forest of Avon initially helped create Warmley Forest Park by planting the oaks and other trees on the former site of Warmley Clay Works. The maturing woodland has now developed into a lovely place to walk among the trees and admire the wide ranging views of Warmley, Kingswood and the Cotswolds. The ponds are lit up with Yellow Flag Iris in late Spring whilst coots and moorhens are regularly spotted. There is a skateboard park next to the scout hut.
The site is well connected to recreational routes with the Community Forest Path, Bristol & Bath Railway path and the Dramway all passing close to the site. You can easily extend your walk on public footpaths to visit nearby Overscourt Wood.
Access
The site is on a gentle to moderate slope with mixed paths, some of which are accessible by wheelchair users and pushchairs. Most paths are unsurfaced. Parking and toilets are available on the High Street (70 metres away).
Getting There
The main entrance is on the A420 at Warmley (ST 673 735), next to the crossing point of the Bristol & Bath Railway Path. Consequently, there are good cycle connections with Bristol & Bath. Buses stop nearby on the High Street where there is also a public car park. Public toilets are located here.
Get Involved
The reserve is cared for by a friends group of local people who assist South Gloucestershire Council in managing the reserve. The group organises events and practical work days which are listed on the council's 'What's on' webpage.
Leaflet & Map
A free information leaflet and map is available for Warmley Forest Park. In addition, an audio guide relating to Warmley Forest Park, its history and the bats you're likely to find there is available from local libraries.
