Green Infrastructure Mapping

Green Infrastructure is a network of green spaces designed and positively managed to deliver diverse benefits to people. This approach was pioneered by the Community Forest and the green space planning for Growth Areas around London.

The Forest of Avon team has developed considerable expertise in mapping, advising on and delivering Green Infrastructure within the area.

Green infrastructure Map of the West of England

In a joint project with the Avon Wildlife Trust, the Forest of Avon has created an interactive web-based map of the Green Infrastructure of the West of England showing

  • existing green assets in the region
  • where deficits exist and need addressing

To see the tool, go to http://www.greeninfrastructurewest.org

The Green Infrastructure tool has been devised for use by developers and planners to position their development in line with the Forest of Avon Partnership's objectives and the best interests of the local community. The work was funded by DCLG and Natural England.
