Forest School Evaluation Project
The Forest of Avon recently co-ordinated and delivered a highly successful Forest School project in Bath & North East Somerset which demonstrated and evaluated the impact of Forest School on key aspects of children's development, learning and well being.
The full report details how the project provided effective delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and the Every Child Matters agenda. Strong outcomes were also identified in relation to the National Framework for Sustainable Schools, the UK Sustainable Development Strategy (Defra 2005) and Every Child's Future Matters (Sustainable Development Commission 2007).
The project is being used as a case study for the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) through the Early Years National Strategies team and Narrowing the Gap. It is intended that the evidence this project provides will contribute to the process of the ongoing evaluation and development of Forest School in the UK.
